Jim Steinmueller

Jim Steinmueller is a distinguished alumnus of White Bear Lake Area High School, graduating with honors in 1969. A standout athlete, he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, earning letters in all three sports during his junior and senior years. Recognized for his exceptional talent, Jim was named captain of the football team his senior year and garnered all-conference, all-metro, and all-state honors. His leadership and skill contributed to the team's conference championship and a state ranking of second.

Following his high school career, Jim accepted a football scholarship to Iowa State University. During his four years on the team, he played a pivotal role in leading the Cyclones to their first two bowl game appearances in program history. In 1972, Jim was awarded the Iowa State Athletic Council Award for the Most Outstanding Student Athlete.

After his collegiate athletic career, Jim pursued a path in medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his residency at St. John's Hospital in St. Paul. For 28 years, he dedicated his professional life as a partner at East Side Medical Center.

Jim's personal life mirrors his professional success. Happily married to his high school sweetheart, Cheryl, he retired from his medical practice in 2008. Jim has volunteered in the community over many years. He spent time at Face to Face Community Health Clinic in St. Paul. He was President of Ramsey County Family Physicians and volunteers monthly at Loaves and Fishes at Dorothy Day Center.

Jim Steinmueller's journey exemplifies a life characterized by athletic prowess, academic achievement, and professional dedication. His contributions to both the sports world and the medical field have left a lasting impact.
